“Prologue/On Parole/The Bishop” - Les Miserables 10th Anniversary Concert

Les Miserables is on my Top Five favourites musicals of all time.  Every time I hear the first few iconic bars of the prologue, my heart immediately stops in anticipation to hear more.  We had so much fun playing this in concert band because the bass, percussion and horns had such interesting parts.

I had the immense privilege of seeing my best friend perform this with an amateur theatre group back in Adelaide (his ringtone, when he calls my phone, is the prologue).  He was part of the chain gang in the prologue, in various chorus parts and as a member of Thenardier’s gang.  It was hilarious because when he finally had his second solo, he forgot to turn his mic on so he had to literally sing over the orchestra to be heard.  I still tease him about it xD
