♫ “Gravity (John Mayer Cover)” - Tyler Ward
Now the original’s already pretty chilled, stripped back and what have you but this cover is just…beautiful. I don’t even have the proper words to describe this that would do it justice.
So buy the track—support the amazing talent that is Tyler Ward—and enjoy.

Day 3 - The Saddest Lyrics You Know
“Slow Dancing in a Burning Room” (John Mayer Cover) [Continuum] - Tyler Ward
This was hard. I just couldn’t decide. Every time I found something and thought it was this, I’d find another song. It would be one or two lines. Or the way the music made the lyrics sound. Half the time the lyrics are the cheesiest, weirdest sounding stuff that breaks you because of the music itself.
I finally settled on this gem. I found it during a time in my life when the entire “Continuum” album seemed to resonate with my heart. I had this on loop for a while. Don’t you just love the title? It paints such an interesting, vivid picture—counterforces of needing to part, knowing everything is falling apart, but wanting to stay. Since I’ve posted the original, here’s Tyler Ward’s beautifully humble interpretation of the song.
It’s not a silly little moment
It’s not the storm before the calm
This is the deep and dying breath of this love that we’ve been working onCan’t seem to hold you like I want to
So I can feel you in my arms
Nobody’s gonna come and save you
We’ve pulled too many false alarmsWe’re going down
And we can see it too
We’re going down
And you know that we’re doomed
My dear we’re slow dancing in a burning room

“You Will Never Be” - Julia Sheer
I first heard about this beautiful gal through my brother (who got me hooked on Tyler Ward). This is my favourite at the moment, co-written with Tyler. I feel ten times better after belting it out in my room or in the shower.
Here’s the acoustic version.

“Jar of Hearts” (Christina Perri Acoustic Cover) - Kait Weston with Tyler Ward
There is something beautiful in sad songs—if you ask me, most of my favourite songs are quite ‘depressing’; angry or upset in a tired way. Like the composer or singer is saying a sad kind of ‘I give up’ that feels more final in the lyrics and music.
I’m not really sad at the moment but I feel that a small part of myself, a part I am not happy about, is breaking away and dying. With music I’m saying good-bye and somehow finding strength to move forward again.
The original by Christina Perri is beautiful (I love her dress in the video). The absolutely talented and awesome duo Sam Tsui and Kurt Schneider did a cover too (some cello in there that I loved). The Kait Weston and Tyler Ward video version, though it isn’t complete, is the one I much prefer. Just guitar and vocals—a little more moody.
Enjoy :)

ET (Katy Perry Acoustic Cover) - Tyler Ward
Prepare yourself for a Tyler Ward invasion over the next couple of days. Another artist I cannot say enough great things about. There are many reasons why I love this guy. I don’t listen to the radio a lot now because they seem to be playing the same songs or the same sounding material over and over again. Tyler takes mainstream/popular songs and makes me LOVE them; adding more tenderness, honesty and sincerity into them. I don’t like Katy Perry but this cover is just ‘out of this world’.
Check out his website, follow him on Twitter, Facebook, check out his awesome YT videos. You will want all of his songs after.
