I attended my first work event, which happened to be the Christmas season Hype Night for L’Occitane here in Victoria. Needless to say, it was unlike anything I had experienced before. Like Dad said, I’ve moved up in the world from cleaning toilets to selling toiletries xD Hey, at least they’re the best in the market!
The event was held on Chapel Street, in an apartment above the store. It was gorgeously decorated with the new colours for the Christmas limited edition line of fragrances (which I’m not sure I’m allowed to say just yet, but they smell just as good as they sound). There was food and candy everywhere in large glass jars and drinks to go around. It was a bit of information overload as we had a bit of training about what to do and expect when it gets busy in stores but overall it was a good way, I think, to start work with the company. I finally met the girls I get to work with and they are amazing!
I seriously know zilch about working in retail and I had been avoiding it before for the simple fact that I dislike having to goad people into buying products that, truth be told, are more of an indulgence than a need. But if there’s any particular brand I would back in terms of beautifying products, it’s L’Occitane. A traditional French organic and fair trade company, their stuff’s a bit expensive but I assure you that you are going to get your money’s worth. No harmful ingredients, all natural and all good for you ^_^
Meanwhile, I am a bit high over the fact that I walked out of there with freebies xD (above). Organic olive tree essence body + hand cream, scrub and a facial kit. After three months I get 50% employee discount on everything >:D I think I’ll be getting a lot of my lotions and candles there. Granted for three months I’ll be doing nothing but gift wrapping (hey! easy stuff considering I’m an architecture student ;D) but if they like me, I get to stay on and work on the floor!
I am ecstatic to get started, thank you Father for this opportunity ^_^
