- My heart practically jumps out of my chest when the phone rings next to my bed while having an afternoon nap...

- Me: Hello?
- Tristan: Hey! How are you?
- Me: *really quietly and sleepily* Good, thanks. What's up?
- Tristan: I was just wondering if you wanted to come take a walk with me down at the park. I need to get my brain out of physics and maths exam study for a while or I'll go crazy.
- Me: *rubbing my eyes and not wanting to get out of my warm bed* Mmm...okay, give me ten minutes.
- Tristan: *pauses* Did I just wake you again?
- Me: *firmly* YES
- Tristan: I'm sorry.
- Me: It's okay.
- Tristan: I don't understand why you take naps in the afternoon. I could never do that.
- ._."
- To be honest though, I miss being pushed around by him. So sad I wasn't there today for his birthday ="<
- Me: *just about has a heart attack from hearing the phone ring on the table, squinting in the darkness I manage to pick up the phone*
- Me: *really croakily and quietly* Hello?
- Mat: Hey! Happy Birthday!
- Me: *smiles* Thank you...
- .
- Entire phone call goes for nearly half an hour. When I hang up I think--He had all day to call and decided to ring at 1.30 in the morning the next day...
- Me: *so happy to pick up the phone* Hey!!! How are you?
- Jon: *really softly* Hello, hello. I'm good thanks, what about you?
- Me: Oh my gosh, you sound so tired!
- Jon: Yeah, I am pretty tired.
- Me: You're always tired.
- Jon: *chuckles softly* Yes I am.
- Me: But you sound even more tired than usual. You won't believe this but I can actually tell the difference between normal tired and really tired. And you're REALLY tired.
- Jon: *more laughing* I've had a pretty crazy week, actually.
- Me: So have I but I don't sound like that. *suddenly feeling really sad* I miss you and I want to talk to you but you should get some rest!
- Jon: No, it's all right. I will just sound like this throughout the rest of the phone call.
- Me: *silence* Noooo!
- Jon: We won't make it too late.
- Me: *gives in* Okay, deal.
- *phone call goes for an hour and a half*
- ._."
- (He explained why he was coughing a lot over the phone; had some strange viral infection and fever earlier during the week)
- Me: *stunned* WHAT?! Oh my gosh, Ben, that's terrible!!
- Him: Well, I saw a doctor and I'm feeling much better now. This was on Tuesday, after I got my motorcycle license. Then on Friday I managed to also get my forklift license.
- Me: *practically close to tears from worry* OH MY GOSH!
- Him: Nah, it's nothing *more coughing*
- Me: *hysterical* Ben, you just said that you had these swollen blood vessels on the roof of your mouth and some throat infection that makes it excruciatingly painful to swallow, and you still managed to get two licenses and study! I think that's something!!
- Him: Patti, you sound so dramatic! *laughs*
- Me: Ben, you KNOW this about me, why are we even discussing this?! I think you should give yourself some credit for what you just did.
- Him: *laughs* Thank you for the compliment, Patti. Yeah, I guess I did pretty well *coughs some more*
- Me: Oh my gosh, you're dying!!! We shouldn't even be on the phone!
- Him: *laughs* I'm all right I promise! *more coughing*
- ._."
